Casera Campigat [formerly known as Malga Campigàt] is a public mountain shelter of the Agordino area, located in the heart of the Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Wonderfully nested in a great panoramic position at the center of the Pala Group (Pale di San Martino Mountain Range), Casera Campigat lies at an altitude of 1801 meters above sea level, a few steps away from the Forcella Cesurette Pass (also called Focella Campigat) between the Dolomite valleys of Valle di San Lucano (Municipality of Taibon Agordino) and Valle di Gares (Municipality of Canale d’Agordo). The Agordino area is part of the Province of Belluno in the Veneto Region, Italy.

One beloved hiking destination, and a practical emergency shelter in case of bad weather, Casera Campigat is located at the foot of the amazing Pala Plateau (or Altopiano delle Pale), in the enchanting mountain scenario of the Pale di San Martino. Some of the peaks of this worldwide famous mountain range, belonging to the UNESCO System 3 Pale di San Martino – San Lucano – Vette Feltrine – Dolomiti Bellunesi, can be admired from Casera Campigat.

Given its easily accessible position, both from Col di Prà in Taibon Agordino and Pian de le Giare in Canale d’Agordo, Casera Campigat is the ideal place for an unforgettable mountain hike or as a practical stop-over while exploring the Pala Group.

Always open to the public, both in Summer and in Winter, Casera Campigat belongs to the Municipality of Taibon Agordino and it is shared with everybody mainly as an emergency shelter for hikers.

Casera Campigat is equipped with solar panels and power supply, a wood-burning stove, outdooe grill, a basic supply of furniture and some beds. There is also a practical fountain with drinkable water right outside the casera.

Casera Campigat can be easily reached with the CAI Path 761 from Pont (Taibon Agordino) in 2-3 hours or with the CAI Path 756 from Canale d’Agordo in 1 hour. Both hikes, although free from technical difficulties, offer good altitude gaps and require a good level of training and some experience with hiking in the mountains.

As there is no garbage can on site, every used is asked to collect their trash and to take it home, avoiding leaving trash at the casera or along the hiking paths.
