Practical information for your visit:

  • 🚗 Parking and Amenities: Convenient parking lots, bars, and restaurants/refuges are available on-site.
  • 🚶 Family Walk: You can walk around the lake along a comfortable, flat path with no elevation changes, ideal for families, children, and anyone looking for a relaxing hike.
  • ⚠️ Swimming Prohibited: Lake Fedaia is not suitable for swimming due to the hydroelectric facilities connected to the dam, which generate currents and invisible hazards in the water. Visitors are asked to strictly respect the rules.

Lake Fedaia, created by the construction of the dam of the same name on the site of a pre-existing body of water, is a beloved and social-media-friendly attraction for guests visiting the Heart of the Dolomites, especially at dawn and sunset when the Marmolada glows with the warm hues of the Enrosadira (alpenglow). On-site parking, bars, and restaurants are available, and you can walk around the lake on a comfortable, virtually flat path, making it suitable for families and less athletic guests who are still looking for a beautiful and scenic stroll.

Lake Fedaia is also very famous for being clearly visible from the highly popular Viel dal Pan, the hiking trail connecting Agordino and Val di Fassa that runs directly in front of the Marmolada, as well as from the splendid Arabba Geological Trail (a hiking and cultural itinerary encompassing the nearby Padon Chain). On the Belluno side of the lake, visitors also enjoy a wonderful view of Mount Civetta, captured from this vantage point in thousands of photographs.

Although it may look inviting for a swim, it must be emphasized that Lake Fedaia is not swimmable, obviously due to the presence of the dam’s hydroelectric plants, which make swimming dangerous. All guests are therefore kindly requested to respect the rules and the location, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
