Enrosadira
The Magic of the Dolomites’ dyes
The so-called “Enrosadira” (an ancient Ladin term indicating the process of “turning pink or red”) is probably the most feature and renowned aesthetic phaenomenon of the Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Its name refers to the particular reddish shades (actually a color range that goes from orange to deep violet) with which the sunlight dyes the vertical walls and fancy profiles of the Dolomites at dawn and dusk, captured in millions of pictures, drawings and paintings. From Albrecht Dürer till nowadays, the Dolomites haven’t ceased to attract the observer’s fascination and curiosity, and the enrosadira has given for sure a great contribution in the Dolomites’ worldwide fame.
The Enrosadira phenomenon is originated by the particular geological conformation of the Dolomites, with their vertical walls and fancy shapes, and by the pale dyes of this mineral, that enhance the colors of sunlight when dawn or sunset approaches.
The Enrosadira is one of the Dolomites’ features that have definitely contributed to the worldwide fame of this enchanting mountain range of the Eastern Alps. In addition to being an undoubtedly interesting natural phenomenon, Enrosadira is something able to strike the human imagination and the emotional fascination for nature, highlighting how these characteristics are innate in the observer.
In the Agordino area, the Heart of the Dolomites, our guests can easily observe this curious and charming event from many different positions; the Enrosadira is more evident if observed from high altitudes, but the Agordino area is plenty of marvellous and easily-accessible spots in which to relax and to enjoy the warm colors of this phaenomenon.
